Your Headstart new tab is fully customizable. Choose how it looks, what it shows, and how it behaves.
Startup Views
Headstart offers several startup view modes that determine what you see when you open a new tab. You can switch between them at any time from the settings panel.
Wallpaper Mode
Full-screen background image from a curated Pexels collection, randomized daily. Double-click to reveal the dashboard.
Video Mode
A cinematic MP4 video wallpaper plays in the background. Choose from 9 animated scenes hosted on Cloudinary.
Dashboard Mode
Go straight to your widget grid with all your pinned apps, bookmarks, and integration widgets visible.
Minimalistic Mode
A clean, distraction-free view with just the greeting clock and pinned apps. Scroll or double-click to reveal the full dashboard.
Wallpapers
Headstart rotates wallpapers daily from 8 curated Pexels collections: Popular, Nature, Monochrome, Cityscapes, Textures, Animals, Flowers, and Interiors. You can also set a custom wallpaper by URL or choose from the available video wallpapers.
The wallpaper selection is saved to your local storage and persists across sessions. The daily rotation is deterministic — you'll see the same wallpaper all day, with a fresh one the next day.
Theme & Appearance
Headstart supports light and dark themes. You can toggle between them from the settings panel or the theme customizer in the top navigation bar. The theme is persisted across sessions.
You can also adjust the border radius of UI elements to your preference, from sharp rectangles to fully rounded corners.
Pinned Apps
The pinned apps strip gives you one-click access to your most-used services. By default, Headstart includes Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar, GitHub, Notion, Linear, Jira, Figma, and more — but you can customize which apps appear.
To customize your pinned apps, open the settings panel and select which apps to show from the available list of 50+ services. Apps you don't use can be hidden with the toggle.
Greeting & Live Clock
When you open a new tab, Headstart greets you with a personalized message based on the time of day (Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening) along with a live-updating clock. This is always visible at the top of your dashboard.
